This hotel is only a month old when we visited. The rooms are comparable to those of five star hotels, maybe without gym, fancy restaurants, etc. However, it is perfect for stay as a comfortable place. The room design is very thoughtful, particularly the closet and luggage area, which is in an independent section. The door way lights are motion sensed, convenient for going to washroom during the night. The bathroom are also functionally sectioned into bath, shower, toilet, washing. Needless to say, all the facilities are new and tastefully designed. The services and staff friendliness are also worth to praise here. Maybe it is a new hotel, staffs are paying extra attention, but we are very happy to receive such services. Hope they can keep up this attitude throughout its operation. Best of it, it’s price is set on a very reasonable level, about 350 Yuan for a standard room. It is not far from the ancient town Nanxun of typical Southern Chinese old township with beautiful surrounding waterways. The place was also the center of silk trading century ago. Much of the rich people moved on to Shanghai to continue their business empire. Highly recommended place to visit and the subject hotel to stay.…
It's supposed to be local 6 stars hotel and as expected the place is huge and the room is quite big. The Chinese dinner at the hotel was just so so although our group had nine tables and was held inside the function room. The breakfast was disappointed as it was free seating and the food was not replenished fast enough. The view at the cafe supposed to be good but the scene was spoiled by too much high rise condos.
Overall, it was ok, but a far cry from a truly 5 star Hotel. First, I should say that the name on the outside and their stationary is "Nanxun Garden Grand Hotel". Second, the price we paid for a normal view on the 3rd floor was over 1,100 rmb on a holiday. They made no bones about charging much more as it was a holiday. The details: The indoor pool is quite small (peanut shaped) though the temperature was ideal (29 C.) The locker area is tiny and there's a small sauna. Don't expect luxury. It's utilitarian and functional. That's it. My main problem with the Hotel is that they do NOT have temperature control in the rooms. It was a bit cold and we asked at the desk if the heat is on. They said 'NO' - that the Central government doesn't turn it on this time of year. - Nonsense. How can any Hotel claim to be a 5 star hotel and not provide individual temperature controls. The thermostats/control panels are in the rooms, but just for show obviously. Breakfast was ok. Not marvelous, but ok. They had various cereals, but no bowls, just plates. When my friend's wife wanted to bring a hard boiled egg to her room for her son, the waitress said she could not take out any food. Nickel & diming! Small details like that are the problem in general in this Hotel. They need advice from a seasoned 5 star Hotel Manager to bring it up to par. It's ok as a place to stay for a night or two, but certainly not to enjoy as part of the fun. Howard S.…
