If you are looking for a few days of completely chilled bliss amidst the more typical bustle and chaotic fun of Venezuela, this is just the ticket for you. The camp is built on wooden stilts sitting right above the Orinoco River, and feels like it is completely connected to the jungle all around it. A 20 - 30 minutes boat ride from the nearest town, there is no electricity (save for a generator that runs for a brief stint each day) and time runs at it's own, slow-motion pace. The 9 or 10 rooms are simple wooden beams with dried palm leaves draping them to keep the rain off, but apart from that they are completely open to the outdoors. At night (after you have blown out the candles you use to navigate the camp once the sun has gone down), you sleep comfortably under your mosquito net listening to all manner of wildlife flitting about in the pitch-black. In the day, you spend your time lazing in hammocks, taking the occasional boat trip around the delta to watch the wildlife, or sitting at the wooden bar overlooking the river sipping a coffee or beer. It really is the height of relaxation.
I stayed here for 3 days / 2 nights after spending the previous week climbing Mt. Roraima, and it was the perfect way to wind down. Don't expect air-conditioned rooms (you WILL be eaten by mosquitos in the evening until you crawl under the relief of your mosquito net in bed), hot showers, and a detailed plan of daily activities. This place runs on its own, simple, relaxed time and that is what is so great about it. If you are travelling in Venezuela for just a few weeks, I would recommend coming here near the end, when you are running low on energy and just looking to relax, rather than at the beginning when you are itching to do STUFF and explore. 2 - 3 days is perfect.
I booked my stay here through Tino Blum of hike-venezuela.com (who also arranged all my internal flights, transfers, and visit to Angel Falls plus a trek up Mt. Roraima) and he was absolutely excellent, and incredible value. I would thoroughly recommend him to anyone looking to travel in Venezuela.
In summary, the Orinoco Eco Camp is a wonderfully chilled, totally disconnected little island of isolation that is the perfect way to spend a few days unwinding and discovering the wonders of Venezuela's jungle from within.

I visited Venezuela at the end of Dec 2013. My trip was organised by the amazing Ben at Osprey Expeditions (A company I would totally recommend- they are brilliant!!). Towards the end of my trip I visited the Orinoco Delta where I stayed at the Eco Camp. I am a solo female traveller.
I was picked up from the edge of the jungle and taken on speedboat to the camp where I was welcomed by the camp leaders. They told me where everything was and told me that lunch would be served soon. The small problem was that they only had meat (which I don't eat)- a little surprising that they didn't have any fish or anything vegetarian. But it wasn't the biggest problem- they did try and rectify this for the rest of my time.
The camp is actually a really interesting place to stay. My room was a little hut which has no back which means when you are in your 'room' you are facing the entire expanse of the delta.
The two men who run the camp (who are originally from Guyana) were helpful and there was definitely some order to the camp. The toilet was clean as was the shower considering you are in the middle of the jungle. I have to stress the importance of the fact that you are in the middle of the Venezuelan jungle- do not expect luxury.
As a group of three, we went on a canoe ride through the delta and were able to see some amazing birds and monkeys. Later that evening we were able to visit the farm that the camp owners have a little further on the delta and were able to try the fresh watermelon. At sunset we also did a little piranha fishing.
On my second day we went on a morning canoe ride and later a jungle walk. The camp provide Wellington boots but beware- you will get dirty in the jungle. In fact- our camp leader got a little lost which meant we all had to try to swing from a vine to get to the other side of a little lake. We all failed but it was a funny memory. We got over the shock of being in the muddy water by doing more piranha fishing and a visit to a local house to meet the native peoples of the delta.
All in all, I would recommend it. The only downside of the camp was the treatment of animals at the camp. The camp leaders kicked their dogs on more than one occasion in front of everyone. As an animal lover I felt very uncomfortable seeing this, and a few others also mentioned this.
Finally- for anyone visiting Orinoco- Take at least three cans of mosquito spray with you. They will bite you through your clothes so just be careful.

Boede her i 2 nætter, men ganske enkelt camp i en fremragende beliggenhed. Fantastisk for dyreliv og lige ved siden af Orinoco river. Også god beliggenhed for sejlture rundt i floden. Personalet er meget hjælpsomme, og maden er god.
