Wherever you go in this beautiful park you will find unique scenery. Fun to stop and safe in the river even if you don’t flat. There is history and geography and geological surprises all along the park route. You will want to go again and again. The Buffalo River is a treasure

Gorgeous river, no development along it. We only kayaked a small stretch - about 3 hours, and are eager to return when water levels are higher. The sun was hot, but there were shady portions, and several areas for swimming. If you're after a real "wilderness" experience, this is not the place - there are families in the water around every bend, but everyone is friendly, and the scenery is just so gorgeous.

We camped at the Buffalo Point Campgrounds for the weekend while floating on the river. I have never been camping at a national park and I loved the level of interactions and presence of the park rangers. They had answers to questions, warned us campers about a possible thunder/rain storm blowing in that night, and put on educational 'lectures'. They modeled the rules and why the rules are in place for children to understand. All around great weekend!

We did couple of trails within the park including Paige and Broadwater Hollow Falls near Compton. Great scenery and multiple areas of natural wonders. The trees were still leafless so all the views of the cliffs were unobstructed.

even in the late fall, after most of the trees have lost their leaves, this is still a nice place to get out and hike.

We took several hikes throughout the park over three to four days, some more strenuous thsn others.

One day we started by Steel Creek boat launch went up the Buffalo river trail for about 4 miles and back along the old river trail ( a few pictures from that hike are attached, one looking diwn at the Steel creek launch and parking area). ~8 miles total that day.

Another day we started at Compton trailhead, made a big loop on Sneeds creek trail by Henderson house then on the old river trail to Hemmed-in Hallow and back up a fairly difficult trail from California point to where we parked.

This is a beautiful place and with leaves 🍁 changing color in mid-October even more so.

Camped for 2 nights at Tyler Bend campground. Top notch campground, great location. Limited paddling opportunities due to Covid and low water but great experience nonetheless. The most enjoyable time we had was sitting in chairs by the river in the evening watching the wildlife. Highly recommend!

Our third trip to the buffalo river! Recommend swimming at Pruitt’s Landing and Steel creek. We hiked the Lost Valley, Hideout Hollow and Whittaker’s point. Also floated down the river on tubes to Buffalo Point.

My husband and I took our kids (ages 11 and 15) to visit the Buffalo River. We set up our camper in Buffalo Point Campground and had a fantastic experience swimming and exploring this stunning area. It was pet friendly, bathroom facilities were clean and stocked. We booked a canoe trip with Wild Bills Outfitters and also had a great experience with them. We’d love to go back sometime.
