Beautiful area perfect for a quiet trail ride. The horses are in perfect shape, very well trained, reliable and perfect for the job of taking anybody safely on a ride. David’s no-nonsense and clear instructions are a great way to explain horses and horse riding, so that even complete newbies can come along safely.
Great experience, I would recommend to everybody.

Booked a trail ride for 4 people (2 of whom were from Europe) with David. David was great, very informative and picked out the right horse for each person. It was a two hour trail ride to the shores of Lake Grapevine. Everyone had a great time and David was the best. He gets booked up quickly so highly recommend booking as far in advance as possible - it isn't a last minute decision but doesn't hurt to reach out to him to see what he has available when someone cancels. The trail involved walking through treed areas, crossing a couple of small bridges, crossing a shallow creek, open grassy areas and your final destination is the shore of Lake Grapevine and have the horse walk briefly in the water. Make sure to show up at the time he has instructed, it is important. David will also be taking pictures along the way and you can also take photos too. We didn't realize that he had taken so many great photos. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Decided to ride a horse after 10yrs. We had a great time and it was really fun! “ Big Red” the horse was awesome and did great. The weather was perfect.

We had a blast trail riding with David, Red and Freckles...
The scenery is diverse and just beautiful... great variety in the paths. The horses were calm and well trained so even as a rookie I felt very comfortable.
David was so easy to book with, super responsive and took the best care of us on site.
Great time. Totally recommend Widowmaker Trail rides.

David and his horses were fantastic! David gives such great instructions and makes trail riding with him and his horses extremely enjoyable. I am already looking at the calendar for a good time we can go back and do it all over again. I highly recommend Widowmaker Trail Rides.

From the time we booked David’s communication was excellent. We enjoyed a two hour ride with not so experienced riders. I learnt so much in the briefing - about horses and their overall psyche as well as mistakes I’ve been making.
David truly is The Horse Whisperer!
His horses are beautiful creatures with lovely temperaments and you could see how well maintained they were and everything else in the surrounds.
The ride we went through small river and ended up at a lovely lake. We all loved it so much. A great way to spend the morning. Thanks David!

In town with my two young adult sons, visiting family. While the cousins were at work, we set off on a trail ride. We were all total novices but looking forward to a good adventure. We were not disappointed.
David was a great tour guide, and his horses were calm & patient with all of us. We were a small group, as are all of his rides. Just 5 of us, so it was a nice personal ride and we had a great opportunity to chat with David as he led us on the trails. One of the things that we really loved was the variety in the trail - up and down, a bit of mud, some water crossings, winding thru the woods. It was terrific.
My only complaint might be that the two hours passed by too quickly, and only because we enjoyed it so much. Definitely worth the drive out from Dallas - our cousins plan to check it out too!

I haven’t ridden for 15 years but Dave was brilliant, gave me a quick refresher and we were off! The trail isn’t a plod along a straight path for two hours it’s interesting and varied- crossing a small creek was a first for me!
Dave was so friendly and Duke was a great horse - I would absolutely recommend going and will be back when I’m next in town!!

Depends on how large and how many large people want to ride at the same time. We have several horses that can carry 220 lbs. 1 horse that can carry a little more.

I'm looking for a place for my husband and I to get some Texas flavor. Unfortunately, he has an artificial hip and can't ride a horse. We're hoping for something like a conastoga wagon trip or similar. Do you know of anything like that?

Just wondering, I notice on google maps when I search Widowmaker Trail Rides that two locations are come up.
Would we need to go to the location downtown Dallas first, and then the other location?
We would be coming from out of town, so we will be relying on the public transit.

what is the weight limit? I weigh 250lb but would like to ride. I'm a complete beginner.
