Très belle vue de la baie, on y accède par des escaliers. Attention il y a beaucoup de vent. La visite dure 1/4 d'heure guère plus

Muy buena vista y perspectiva increíble desde ahí, pero el llegar hasta ahí, es lo duro, si piensas trepar a pies, no creo que sea la mejor opción, a menos que tengas una buena condición física

Took us 35 minutes from downtown to the top of the lookout with a moderate pace. You need to take a small boat if you’re walking on the beach. It was 10 cordobas (approx $0.25) but we paid $2 because on the way there we didn’t realize there was a fee. The boat crosses a small river and is right along the walking path. From there, don’t do until the very end of the beach. There will be a small opening on your right side that looks like a storm drain between houses. Go through, head left and we used google maps at this point but there will be some signage. It was $2 for foreigner entry and we were the only ones there at 830AM. We spent about half an hour and then did the steep walk down. I’d go early to avoid the heat and crowds. The boat man is there until evening. You can take a taxi or walk way into town to avoid the river crossing but it would add quite a bit of time.

The statue of Christ the redeemer can be easily seen from the streets of San Juan Del Sur. Getting here is relatively easy - just walk along the beach (Entire length) towards the statue. Right at the end a footpath (actually looks a bit like a drain) will take you to the street. Follow this street around and up the hill. This part is fairly challenging but is over pretty quickly. Once at the top you will be charged 1USD (National) or 2USD (Foreigner). The views afforded from the statue are quite impressive. Not only can you get a panoramic view of San Juan Del Sur beach you can actually see all the way to Costa Rica. The whole trip return took us maybe 1.5-2 hours from the centre of San Juan Del Sur.

Worth the walk UP the hill. Walk north on the beach, pass the ‘river’ then head off beach on to streets - start walking up the hil. It’s steep! But view is amazing. You could drive most of the way up. Park and then finish walk. There are steep steps at the end.

The Christ statue on the hill overlooking San Juan del Sur is an iconic statue in Nicaragua. Located on a prominent position on the top of a cliff, the statue can be seen from many locations around San Juan del Sur. At night it is lit up like a beacon on a hill.
Entry to the statue and lookout area is $2 USD per person. There is parking nearby or you can walk the steep road up to the statue, which takes about half an hour from San Juan del Sur beach. The walk up is well signposted and goes along back streets. It’s incredibly steep, so a reasonable degree of fitness is required if you want to walk up there.
The panoramic views from the lookout are spectacular! If you don’t want to pay the entry fee there’s a lower lookout which appears to be free, but there was a deep muddy puddle that we would have had to walk through to see it on the day we were there, so we only went to the lookout surrounding the statue. It’s well worth the price of admission to see the statue up close and to spend time enjoying those stunning views of San Juan del Sur.
The statue itself is quite impressive. There’s a platform on the statue that you can walk up to, which brings you to the feet of the statue. At the base of the statue there is a small chapel which contains pictures of various Christ statues from around the world.

SJDS's single most visited attraction. And a must-do.
Our B&B, Villa Arcadia, is on the hill below the statue. Let me give a few pointers. Taxis from town are $10 or from the Port $20. Taxi prices in SJDS are regulated, so if you take a licensed taxi, it should be the same. If you take a taxi, ask them to drop you off at Hotel Pacifico at the foot of the hill for $5, then walk the remaining 15 min. Or, for free, enjoy a safe and scenic walk along the beach from town, through the Talenguera neighborhood, and up the paved but steep hill (you will walk past Villa Arcadia). After 4 pm, most of the route is shaded. At key intersections there will be signs for the statue. We enjoy going about 5pm for the shaded walk, soft colors and sunset. The entry fee is $1 for Nicaraguans and $2 for internationals. You can pay in dollars or cordobas, and they can usually make change. There is a small chapel in the base of the statue, but the history signs are in Spanish. There are bathrooms too, if needed. Bring water and snacks as there are usually none available for purchase. Regardless if you walk or drive, you must be reasonably fit. From the parking lot to the top, it is 97 uneven stairsteps.

Il FAUT indiscutablement y aller, pour la vue et le panorama,pour le site dit "religieux", bof... ce n'est pas l'élément majeur. La vue à elle seule vaut le déplacement,sur toute la station mais aussi, sur l'autre versant, sur les alentours

Had been to San Juan del Sur before and could see the Cristo down from the town but had never taken the time to get up there. We finally made it! After a ten minute drive from the center of town going on the Chocolata, the road that also takes you to the beaches North of the San Juan del Sur bay, and up the steep hill road, we left our car in a parking lot and continued the last 5 minutes up to the Cristo on foot. Breathtaking views and a small little chapel which I found suggestive. The Alcaldía (municipality) charges a little entrance fee when you get up to the highest point. Absolutely worth it. You can also go on foot directly from town just walking North on the beach and then following the directions for the Cristo or asking the friendly locals who live around there. Consider a 45 min walk and a lot of uphill.

Is it doable to walk from cruise port to here? My wife and I are both fit and able to walk. We plan to go early in the morning. How long it is going to take and do they have signs show you the way to walk from cruise port? Thanks

Yes you can totally drive a regular car up. It’s steep but the road is paved and in good condition.

Can I get there walking from the cruise ship port? How long should it take? We are fit and used to a lot of walking.

Yes cruise port is very close, maybe 1/4mile from where we started. I recommend walking along the beach (cross a small river) until you get to the last road, then take a right. The last road looks kind of like a concrete drainage ditch but it's the only way off the beach. Looks a little sketchy but it's not. There are signs to direct you from there. No map needed.
