Great place to see 2 beautiful waterfalls for free. Free parking. Easy boardwalk path with no elevation. Beautiful tall trees. Particularly gorgeous in the fall although foliage was late this year due to the warm temps. In/out path is only about 15 minutes each way. Porta potty at entry.

For the best bang for the buck, just visit the skinny but tall Silver Thread Falls near the beginning of the trail and continue on to the more powerful Dingmans Falls. For the foolhardy, you can continue on past the viewpoint for Dingmans Falls to view the top of the fall, but this will be a steep climb.

This free park has a nice boardwalk and steps path to see everything they have to offer. The nice thing is you get three or four falls for the price of none. The first falls you encounter is Silver Thread Falls which gets its name honestly. Walking further on a relatively flat path you get to Dingmans Falls. Not as tall as Silver Thread, but more powerful and louder. Up the steps from there you move toward the top of the falls. While you go past a swift moving brook to see the top of the falls and another small falls beyond that, you actually need to go past (or over) caution tape. Having done that, the only purpose I can see for the caution tape was to make a legal statement for someone at the top being an idiot. Everything was perfectly safe, but if you decided to violate the fencing boundaries, bad things could happen to you. At the furthest end of the area up there is a small falls that appears to be the very top of Dingmans Falls. If you're going to go up the steps to get to it, there is no sense in not going far enough to see the two falls at the top.
Enjoyed every minute of the excursion and still enjoy the pictures and videos of all the falls.

Stopped by on our way to Stroudsburg. Follow signs to “Dingman Falks Visitor Center.” Short walk on nice trail to the falls with another small one on the way. Beautiful falls with plenty of photo opportunities.

Deleted and edited to add: Pets are not allowed on the trail. Noticed a woman walking a small dog near the parking lot. She told me that he wasn't allowed on the trail, even if she kept him in a frontpack-type carrier. This may be a "deal-breaker" for some people, but I think it's important to know; and I appreciate that the rangers enforce this rule, and that the woman adhered to it (and didn't leave her dog in a closed car while she walked.)
Now to my experience of the trail/falls.
We put the Dingmans Falls Welcome Center into Waze; its parking lot is right at the start of the short trail. We began at the Center and were warmly, enthusiastically greeted by Park Rangers. (I hadn't realized till then that it's a National Park.) They had info on the walk and waterfalls - as well as some other waterfalls nearby.
The "trail" is an easy, short walk, almost entirely boardwalk, with some built-in benches along the way. It is very shady (tall hemlock trees) and that was a blessing on a hot summer day. Because we arrived fairly early, there weren't a lot of people there yet. It is much less crowded (parking lot and trail) than nearby Bushkill Falls (which, of course, has more waterfalls and longer, harder trails).
Silver Thread waterfall is just that, a very tall, very narrow falls. Lovely. The other is quite tall, too, and impressive. We viewed it from the bottom and walked the stairs to the view from the top. Worth the extra time if you can climb about 250 steps (with level areas in between) and back down.

Lovely falls, with Threadneedle on the way. In Winter it's a hassle that the access road, which is a couple of miles, is closed by the park, so you will jostle for parking on a muddy patch near the main road and have a long (though pleasant) walk to the sets of falls. The advantage for Winter is that large sections are frozen and particularly beautiful. If you do in Summer it's probably mobbed. There is a large visitor center in season with rest rooms and the usual stuff and a very well maintained boardwalk to the two different sets of falls -- you could go in wheelchair.

It was icy and the road was closed but we walked it. It was about a two hour round trip walking from the Main Street to both waterfalls but it was worth it. It was an easy walk for me and my 5 and 12 year old. Definitely worth a trip!

The trail is short and easy and the falls are absolutely lovely. We had the trail entirely to ourselves. Very peaceful, with the sound of tumbling water and brilliant fall colors.

Is it just one waterfall or more than one?

There are in fact two however the other falls are quite small depending on the season you visit... the main falls at Dingmans falls are pretty spectacular... there is a nice place to sit and admire with benches, people offer bring sketch books and or camera’s... it’s a wooden boardwalk style trail that is very easy to navigate. Worth an hour or stop

Posted: 01/08/2019: Looking to visit Poconos Mid February 2019 for a quick vacation. How do we find out if Dingmans Falls is open ? We'd like to see the falls and hike a trail or two if possible/safe. The phone number doesn't answer and the website link doesn't work. Not sure if closed also because of government shut down ?

July 2018. Late Winter we had several storms that devastated the trails, walks, steps & parking areas. The NPS expects it will take several years to repair the damage.
In the future I will try to put the month & year in the beginning of my comments as I agree with others that it is difficult to tell if a post is current or from previous years.
Can we visit this place with kids 4 and 12 years old?

Pennsylvania79 bidrag
Yes, this would be a short, easy hike for the kids.
The hike is all on a boardwalk, so nobody will get lost. You get to the first waterfall almost right away, so there’s not a long wait before you see something.
You don’t have to bother dragging everyone up the steps to the top because you can’t see the falls from there anyway. About the only thing you can do is to wave at the people down below.
There isn’t really anything to do other than the hike and - if it’s open - a small visitor center. The visitor center wasn’t open when I was there, so I don’t know how that would be for the kids.
