Great woman. Underwhelming display. Not worth going out of your way to see. A tired display in a tired town. Indeed, it is not easy to find driving into town. That said, something is better than nothing - especially considering how great a person she was.

As much as it pains me to post a negative review (something I hardly ever do), I feel it would be disingenuous to do anything else. Not a good experience today at all.
We were vacationing in Ocean City and needed a break from the beach and traditional touristy activities. As great admirers of Harriet Tubman, my wife and I decided to visit the museum and were particularly excited to have a guided walking tour. I booked our tour online and we drove an hour and a half to Cambridge. As we pulled into the parking lot, the tour guide called and left a message saying she wasn’t available. Apparently she had told the museum not to schedule tours for today, but their system had done so anyway.
We went into the museum, trying to make the best of a frustrating situation. It was very limited and amateurish. That is not being critical, as it appears to be seriously underfunded, and operated by volunteers. Just stating what we saw for others to be aware. it was basically a collection of printed materials with little, if any, original items unique to Harriet Tubman‘s lifetime.
The museum director never greeted us. There were four or five people sitting and watching a PBS documentary. A couple of other groups walked in, looked around and then left. None of them were greeted either. Finally, I went up to the register and he asked if he could help me. I explained what it happened, and he chuckled, saying “Yeah, this happens sometimes. I guess the person who set up the system needs to fix that.” He gave me $40 out of the cash register and that was it. No apologies or anything.
After we left the museum, I texted the tour guide that he’d refunded our money only to find out that she had also done so online. We had to go back to the museum to give the $40 back.
Total waste of a day of vacation.
Again, I hate to be the grumpy guy leaving a bad review, but hopefully this will be helpful to someone somehow.

My husband and I had a wonderful tour of Cambridge which focused on Harriet Tubman history there and the cities early history in the slave trade. Linda Harris was our guide and she was fantastic! She discussed the history of coded songs and delighted us with singing a few. Don’t miss out on one of her tours.

We thoroughly enjoyed visiting this museum and learning more about Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad. There were very knowledgeable docents there explaining stuff. Go here first and then go to the Underground Railroad park south of Cambridge.

Being a descendant of this amazing woman's family it was an absolute honor to attend this amazing museum. It offers such a rich look back at the multiple accomplishments of this Female ICON. It is well designed and flows gracefully through our American history. The trails were beautiful as well. An absolute gem. Just up the road is the old Field cemetery many of her family members named Ross are laid to rest. A great experience to see that all should encounter.

Must do for anyone interested in American history, the struggle to end slavery, and women's rights. A beautiful setting and engaging exhibition. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable.

WOW! I thought I knew a little about HT, but I did NOT know! This center (fairly new) is VERY educational. I thoroughly enjoyed our visit and learning so so much. I highly recommend stopping here if you are in Cambridge.

This should be high on everyone's list to see. This is part of american history that not all people really get to learn. Real history is warts and all. She was a patriot and her quest for freedom is a story for ALL to admire and learn from. God bless her.

Located right on the main street next to an ice cream shop with the old Small Town feel run by locals that know their history. You can do it self paced or a tour and there are videos too done by PBS.
Plan on spending a day so you can attend all of the locations that provide infomation on Harriet Tubman. I ran out of time so I must go back.

I’m trying to bust this place in August 2020 and the number listed is out of service and the provided website has no information. Does anyone know if it’s still open? Operating hours?

We recently stayed two nights at a hotel/resort in Cambridge and checked out on a Sunday. We wanted to visit this museum on the way back to Washington. It would have been the perfect time since we had extra time (check-out time was 11am) and since our time at the resort was filled with other activities. But the museum is closed on Sunday! I think they are missing an opportunity for more visitors by closing on Sunday, especially since Sunday is a common day for people to be in a situation like ours. If this is for religious purposes, what better way to respect the sabbath than by honoring this courageous woman. (At least I did come home and read about her.)

I spent several hours in this museum a few months ago. I don't know, specifically, why the museum isn't open on Sundays. But, since many in the African-American community are deeply committed Christians (as was Harriet), it wouldn't surprise me that they attend Christian worship services, paying attention to the Creator & Liberator for at least one day of the week; rather than a non-specific, human-oriented, "spiritual" encounter with Harriet's memory.
