The Wexford Crystal and Tiffany glass collection is spectacular. This is 3 floors of beautiful art. There is a restaurant in the indoor pool (no water) that smelled delicious but we did not partake this go around. The building itself boasts some great architecture. A must visit!

We were here for nearly two hours enjoying the museum. The volunteer greeter where we came in was extremely friendly and helpful. Lots to see on all of their various floors. The architecture and history of the building was also very interesting. And nice air conditioning. We parked in the back using the St. Augustine parking app.

In St. Augustine, where history beams,
The Lightner Museum is a treasure of dreams!
A whimsical wonder, both grand and refined,
With art and artifacts that truly unwind.
Step through the doors of this splendid old space,
Where elegance dances and time leaves a trace.
Gaze at the relics from days long ago,
In a mansion that sparkles with stories to show.
From crystal chandeliers to curiosities rare,
Every corner you turn, there’s magic to share.
Renaissance paintings and relics of gold,
Whispering tales of the past to behold.
The stunning courtyard invites you to roam,
With gardens so lush, you’ll feel right at home.
Grab a cool drink from the café nearby,
As you soak in the beauty beneath the blue sky.
Exhibits that change, each visit a treat,
With collections so rich, they can’t be beat!
You’ll wander through history, laughter, and song,
In a whimsical journey that never feels wrong.
So if you’re in St. Augustine, don’t miss the muse,
The Lightner’s a gem that you simply can’t lose!
With art and enchantment, it’s sure to delight,
A cultural feast that feels perfectly right!

The Lightner Museum is a very beautiful and interesting attraction with something for everyone. Along with the permanent exhibit items, they have areas where they will showcase different pieces for a period. When I went they had some impressive paintings displayed on the 3rd floor. I did not have the pleasure of being able to dine in their indoor pool area, however, I heard great things about their restaurant and it came highly recommended. Maybe next time. The reason I gave it only 4 stars is because they did not have a tour in place for visitors. I think that would be an excellent addition because exploring the museum on your own is fun, but can be quite overwhelming (there is A LOT to take in) and I feel like a guide would help in focusing and, in turn, enriching the experience.

Interesting collection of what used to be the Alcazar Hotel, one of three Henry Flagler hotels. Self guided. Recommend.

It's an absolutely beautiful place, but I would have loved to see it more set up like the time period to give more of the feeling of what it was like then.
The building is spectacular and the grounds.

Wonderful tour. Much better than expected! Amazing history of the gilded Age. If you are interested at all in history, Henry Flagler and Florida it was well worth the time. Then we had lunch in what was at the time the world largest indoor pool. There’s no water there now, but it was a cool break from the heat in the air conditioning.

This museum is fairly large in size, in the old Hotel Alcazar. It is a very diverse collection of items- glass work, ceramics, and most importantly, toasters (yep, toasters). Some features of the old hotel can be seen, but only a few. On the third floor is an art gallery, currently featuring Durch painters of the 2nd half of the 19th century, very nice. The gift shop was good as well. You can go to the site of the old indoor swimming pool and have lunch- very good, see separate review. Overall, nice and worth seeing.

The building is gorgeous and the museum was interesting. The cafe was closed when we got there. Plan on spending at least an hour and a half here. Definitely a must see when in St. Augustine!

Wan can t to see a unique hotel and resort built in the 1890s? Want to explore fantastic parapets, historic spa facilities, and unique architecture of this marvelous building? Then you’d best just walk around the outside of this museum, or look at it with some binoculars from across the street. You can’t see anything of the buildings majesty from the tour. The few unique staircases visible in the building are roped off. Paid tour participants are walked past placards explaining everything. No access to anything unique about this building except the pool and the quirky “spa room”. Everything else is covered behind sheetrock and locked doors. What a shame that the unique aspects of this wonderful building are not accessible. The museum contents might as well be displayed in an air conditioned warehouse. PS, bring a winter jacket. The building is air conditioned to roughly 65F. Pretty shocking if you’re dressed for a warm spring day in Florida.

Is there an entrance or parking fee? Their site doesn't mention any of this...thanks!

Do you need to purchase museum tickets to see the courtyard?
Skrevet d. 12. november 2020
No. You also don’t need museum tickets to eat in the cafe, and it is wonderful! With piano player!

Are there elevators, for handicapped?
Skrevet d. 13. oktober 2020
Yes. I was able to use my camera. I did not use the flash and suspect that would be discouraged with some of the artwork but no one raised concern about my using the camera at all.

Good afternoon!
If you attend the music box presentation, it is approximately 45 minutes. You could easily spend 3 hours there looking at all the collections and seeing the music boxes.
We did the 11am music box presentation then walked the rest of the museum. We then walked across the street to Flagler College for their tour at 2pm.
Hope this helps. Enjoy your trip!

This may be a dumb question, but are pets allowed? I have an ESA (canine) that is under 15 lbs, is quiet, and can be in a bag/carrier the entire time.
Skrevet d. 6. september 2016
Doubt it there are tons of antiques and easily breakable items all around.

My kids loved it! I have three girls 9, 11 and 14. They all thought it was pretty cool. It's really an eclectic collection. I think much younger than 9, might not be into it though.
