The view from the patio was nice but the server was not knowledgeable and we had to wait a long time for the next pour, even though there were actually very few guests to be attended to.
As if that was not enough to warn us off, we actually got three bottles to take home. But when we received our credit card statement, it shows they had duplicate charged us! Worse, when I called to clear it up, not one but two employees gave me the runaround and denied that they showed there was a duplicate charge. I told them that each charge had a different transaction number listed on my credit card, but rather than look into it they said they would have some other person contact me with “any additional information”…
Maybe I’m being a little cranky here, but being charged twice for the same purchase on my credit card statement is all the “information” I need. I was hoping they would return the duplicate charge to me voluntarily, but instead I had to file a claim with my credit card company!

Wow! This place is located in a beautiful area and we had a very memorable experience. We started with the horseback ride through the farmland and vineyards, our guide was so lovely and the horses were extremely well trained so it made for a relaxing ride. We then drove up to the main building for our tasting, which was led by very knowledgeable staff and we left with a delicious bottle of Pinot Noir. Beautiful architecture, I could see why this is a popular place. Can’t wait to return!

We used to live on the Central Coast many years ago (moved to Sheridan, WY in 2007), where wine tasting in Los Olivos was one our favorite activities to do on the weekend.
Fess Parker was always our first stop and winery of choice, and we frequented the tasting room numerous times. Of those years we lived on the coast, we had the opportunity of meeting Fess and his wife, had bottles signed by Fess, attended many BBQs, taken family pictures, and have made many memories at this winery.
My husband surprised me with a 26th anniversary trip to visit the coast of CA, and we stopped by the Fess Parker vineyard this afternoon to enjoy both wine tasting and a picnic. We were abruptly turned away. The person who was in the wine tasting room told us that there was no availability and that they were not able to accommodate us with wine tasting since we didn’t have a reservation. When we said that we were visiting from WY, her response was that there were many people visiting from all over the world and that we would need to come back at another date/time. This is the only day we set aside on our vacation to enjoy the various vineyards in Los Olivos.
We are incredibly disappointed by the lack of care and concern by one of Fess Parker’s employees. She was rude and dismissive. Sadly, we will never visit this vineyard again. It is certainly not the place we remember visiting.

Beautiful ambiance - the landscape, the winery, the library room where our group did a library tasting. Our tasting guide was excellent but we felt that Pinots and Chardonnays don’t age that well. More current vintages are probably better. The Barrel tasting might have been the better option but would love to come back to experience that tasting.

Our dogs are good off leash and we were in an area were we were playing ball with our little ones some worker with French accent came out with nasty attitude and told us to put our dogs on leash. Why they were not bothering anyone. not dog friendly place at all. The whole feel of this place has changed since Covid. Very sad.

I always heard about the Santa Ynez Valley. Although I visited Napa, Sonoma, and Temecula, this area was never a place which I was able to see. This vineyard was the first winery that I visited, and the grounds were spectacular. The server was friendly and informative. I tried many different varietals of wine. I am in the wine business and I was treated amazingly well. There was no vineyard tour, but I walked through various lines of grapes. Also, the grounds were enormous and scenic with huge mountains in the distance.

Drove out to Fess Parker from our Marriott hotel in Buelton after hearing what a nice place it was and it did not disappoint. Beautiful grounds and building. The wine tasting was very nice but I did notice that depending on who was your server the tasting pours were much different. We enjoyed all the wines in the tasting flight and the beautiful atmosphere of Fess Parker.

We joined the Fess Parker wine club when we visited last year in 2021. We had a wonderful experience and the staff was informative and helpful.
One year later, all I can say is we were very disappointed. We made a tasting reservation, had to track down someone to let them know we arrived and we indicated we were wine club members. One staff person in particular really could care less about us. We asked questions about certain wines and all we got as an answer is “we don’t have those here, you need to order on line.”
Another girl came over after to help us and she was more pleasant, but the tone had already been set.
We still enjoyed the wine, but not the experience. We may be replacing this club with another one soon.

Yes, it's great for families, and yes, I believe outside food is allowed, but not outside wine. :) Best to check directly with the winery for details. Have a great time!

If you only had time for one winery would it be Fess Parker or Firestone?

Wish we could give you some stellar advice, but we have not been to Firestone, so.....However, we have been Fess Parker and would highly recommend it. Try to make it around lunch and bring a bite to eat. The grounds are gorgeous, the wine very nice and the staff very friendly. I don't think you will be disappointed. Miki "This is the Life" Winer

I concur with cr8it. We stayed across the street from the lobby and faced the street. Activity is low and the room was quiet. The rooms are excellent as is the service and food. We were in the building with the pool and spent some time there having snacks and wine. The Inn is a great visit as is the winery.
