I rented an Airbnb in Korotogo and drove over (~45 min) to Natadola Beach.
My wife had a massage at the Blue Cabanna with Kortni, while I walked east toward the large resort and snorkeled just a few yards out from shore.
The snorkeling there was WONDERFUL! Lots of fish and some healthy coral.

This is the best beach in mainland fiji. I was supposed to do an island to truly compare but due to miscommunication with SSC it didn’t happen soo I can’t compare with the island beaches buut I have travelled to many countries and I chase beaches so to speak so when I say this is a beautiful beach with a landscape, I have never seen until coming here I mean it. Just do this beach right, do a day pass at intercontinental hotel or yatule. You pay but you’ll have a secured car park, towel service and the cost includes lunch and drinks so it’s completely worth it. You could avoid the day pass if you want but it’s in an isolated area.

We were at the central and west part of the beach. Parked at one place and accosted by person wanting to provide massage or horse rides. Went on to quieter place. Large amount of trash near beach. We happened to be there on a very windy day so snorkeling not possible and so windy that sand blasting our faces.

The road to get to this beach is hardly a road and we were temporarily blocked on this road by a herd of pigs.
Also the pin for this beach on Google Maps is slightly off so you may have to ask locals how to find this beach.
When we got to the beach parking lot, we saw 2 beautiful high end resorts. In between the resorts there were a large number of tents there that were put up by local women who were selling massage services. These women were local and appeared to be strictly only selling massage services trying to make ends meet.
The beach access in between the 2 resorts was beautiful but it was hard to enjoy it for any length of time without someone coming up to us and asking if we wanted a massage.
We did enjoy this beach and the beautiful sunset but it is surprising that these 2 resorts have to deal with massage services right next to them.

We went to the beach 2 days ago. The beach itself is very beautiful with white sand and crystal clear water. My plan was to spend some time swimming and snorkelling there and have a picnic. We arrived the beach around 11am and rushed into the water. However, after only 5 min in water, we were stung by some jellyfish. We were very close to the beach and there were other people snorkelling just beside us. We didn’t see the entire jellyfish but only the transparent tentacles attached to our skin. The sting was super painful. Luckily we ran into a local guy who took us to a nearby health center and also some very friendly travellers that gave us a hand. The treatment in the health center was very brief that they gave us a shot immediately after they learned we were stung by jellyfish and it seems the health practitioners were well prepared so this must have happened to local people too. Then they held us there for 30min and prescribed hydrocortisone for us and let us go. We still don’t know what type of jellyfish it is, but the initial reaction to the sting was feeling nauseous and short of breath. But all symptoms were temporary and gone by the time we were in the health center - that was a 20min drive I believe.
We asked local people about jellyfish sting after the incident. But no one seems to worry about it and all they are saying is they have never heard about someone being stung by jellyfish before. So I guess it is purely bad luck? If we were in water earlier or later, maybe it would not have happened? If not because of this incident, we would have a great day there as it is a very beautiful beach. Luckily we did have a great day for a boat trip yesterday which cheered us up so that our vacation is not ruined.

If you stand on the beach and look out to the ocean this place is FIVE stars gorgeous looking water. What is not so good and hopefully is just short term and as a result of the recent cyclone is the rubbish on the beach… if Fiji had 10c cash for cans you could make a fortune on this beach… drink bottles-soft drink and alcohol as well as other plastic rubbish (including one car tyre) especially to the north of the Yatule Resort. - no bins to use either if you felt like doing a good deed and picking up some rubbish as you walked.
The beach is beautifully positioned for watching the sunset over the ocean.
If you don’t know the area and want to snorkel there is a dive shop at intercontinental that does boat snorkel trips (as well as diving) for an hour for f$65. Between the Yatule resort and intercontinental there are a few local huts-“markets” the owner will approach but I didn’t find them to annoying after a polite no thanks they will leave you alone- saying that I have no idea what i was saying no to.. it would be good if the resorts either side could help and invest in these little businesses having a nice set of markets to shop at and get a cold drink would be a lovely asset to the area. There is also a boating business (fishing trip- trips to local village etc) the owner will also approach you. I didn’t use his service so cannot comment on it however there APPEARED to be no other similar services (apart from dive place I mentioned) in the bay itself. Unfortunately seas were rough when we were there- quite rough surf but still nice protected areas in front of intercontinental that u can see small fish etc.

Beautiful sandy beach full it is a real shame that plastic bottle tops and plastic was everywhere. Lots of seaweed. We bought vouchers at the $35 each to use their beach-you can spend the vouchers at their bar/restaurant. Well worth it as the local hawkers didn’t bother us. The road to Yatule spa resort was full of potholes. Yatule staff are friendly and accommodating.

Nice beach to visit, but I would not travel significantly out of the way to visit or plan an entire day here. The beach has nice sand that is softer than some of the other beaches we visited in Fiji, but it is not a swimming friendly beach due to the waves and currents. We had a rental car and accessed the beach via a dirt road (just north of the intercontintal hotel) that felt like it was a "back entrance." I had read other reviews that mentioned constant heckling to get massages or ride horses. I did not encounter this. One person asked me politely if I would like to ride a horse. I said no and he walked straight off. Surprised that there were no temporary shops to buy souvenirs or food and drink.

Truly a gorgeous beach and no doubt it lives up to all its reviews. The road down is relatively short but horribly rutted and in parts dangerous so take care. As per many reviews do be aware that locals have set up their cabanas and are quite pushy. No horses any more as the fijian health department seem to have banned them on the beach. Big sign up. We did have to say a polite but final no thanks timaybe 3 different people. After that they left us alone. Water was clear and warm loads of fish too.

When snorkeling at Natadola, where should I swim from the beach? … East toward the point, or west to the other side of the beach?

Hi DCFiji
Are you staying by Natadola beach? If you are, local knowledge will be better than my vague answer. If you are driving there, be aware it is a little remote. I am not sure what food and drink is on offer and no money machines when we were there.
But it is a wonderful beach with friendly people

Hi - after our stay at the Intercontinental Fiji we then stayed at the Sofitel at Denarau Island and it took around 50/60 mins in a taxi to get there. Google Maps would seem to confirm this.

Where is the best place to park for a few hours and have lunch in a restaurant? Or is this discouraged as a day tripper?

We ended up parking at the beach but when we wanted lunch parked at Yatule. To eat there we had to prepare pay $35 each. The food was great though!

Im arriving at Port Denarau on a cruise ship and thinking of going around Nadi and possibly Natadola Beach with my family. There are 10 of us, so emough to fill a mini bus (5 adults, 5 kids). Im wondering are there any drivers that would take us around for the day to places like that? I'm hoping to spend $150 or so (if its possible) to hire a mini bus and driver. Online bookings seem too expensive, so I'm wondering if anyone has had a good deal privately and if they have contact details of their driver to share?

Our group of 7 adults also needed the mini bus and the best rate we found was $400 FJD for the driver to take us, wait and bring us back to our hotel

Hi. We are arriving in Lautoka on The Radiance of the Sea ship on January 10th 2018. We would like to spend 3 or 4 hours at Natadola Beach and have lunch at the Intercontinental Resort. What is the cheapest way to get there? Taxi? Will anyone be running a mini van for passengers to get to Natadola Beach?
Regards

Nadi, Fiji128 bidrag
Well it is possible to get a bus from the Lautoka bus stand going to Suva but if it is not an express it will take you hours just to get to the Tuvu junction then you may be fortunate enough to find a taxi there but more than likely not. Then more waiting. If you were staying in Fiji then fine but on a cruise ship time is of the essence. You would be far better off to get a cab into the bus station and arrange a mini bus or 5 seat taxi and negotiate a price for the day including waiting time
As long as you have a full complement of passengers it could cost around $30 nz pp. Don't hold me to that price but you can negotiate something acceptable to you and the driver.

What is your budget? I guess we all have different ideas about what is reasonable.
The Intercontinental down there is lovely but in my eyes is expensive (we stayed there for a treat). There is another resort next door that was less upmarket, but I reckon it would be a lot more than a backpackers.
The beach is lovely!
