Went on the bus tour yesterday from bungle bungle caravan park. Great scenery and ride out was really good. Unfortunately it felt more like a ‘lift’ to the bungle bangles not a tour. Tour guides need to know information and actually inform guests.

We flew out on a day trip from Kununurra with Aviair which included a walking tour into Cathedral Gorge. What great day. You really get a great view of the bee hives as well as flying over Lake Argyle on the way out and Argyle diamond mine n the way back. The pilots were very informative and did loops of all the attractions so that everybody got a good view. The local guide, Freddie, was fantastic. Can't see why people would wreck their cars driving out there.

The 11 hour trip was awesome but the bus trip is not for the faint hearted..... bumpy, rough, teeth shattering and long. However, the scenery is spectacular and well worth the rough bits. Other than the five hours on the bus, we walked to Cathedral Gorge and Echidna Chasm..... both of which were worthwhile but very different. Cathedral Gorge was the easiest of the two, whilst the walk to Echidna Chasm was over smooth rocks and along dry river beds.
This trip is definitely a photographers delight, but it was difficult sometimes to walk, watch the scenery and take photos.
Well worthwhile and one of the highlights of our recent travels.

We took the 4WD tour from the caravan park, staying 2 nights (caravan park reviewed separately) as this is by far the easiest way to access the Bungle Bungles. The park is directly on the road leading into the park, 50km from the small visitor centre along rutted twisting road with two shallow water crossings. I would not recommend travelling in a regular car.
Tour around 10.5 hours but 4 hours spent travelling. Bungle Bungles are unique and impressive and I'm really glad we visited. Opportunity for several fairly easy walks of 7km total. Guides were friendly and knowledgeable if a bit too laid back perhaps. Good refreshments morning, lunch and afternoon. The included dinner (BYO drinks) alongside the camp fire was also very good. Tour is expensive for what it is but there aren't really any other options.

The Bungle Bungles are beautiful but if you can avoid this specific tour provider- perhaps consider a different company with better maintained equipment and vehicles.
There is quite a lot of travel involved in this tour, all on corogated roads, the first section solely is more than 50 Kms and takes about 1.5 hours, you spend a lot of time on the bus which unfortunately is poorly maintained by this provider.
Our first bus was being fixed and departure time we delayed in an hour, we then left and had to return to the site due to high pitch alarm noise in the bus, all good, we understand that safety comes first. We were then sent out again with the same bus after it has been assessed by a technician (alarm not fixed), driving on poorly maintained segregated road with the bus alarm sounding the whole way (terrible high pitch loud tone). The driver/guide was very apologetic and again, so far so good, we could have tolerated this if this was the only issue. But then at lunchtime the bus was replaced with a bus that unfortunately had no suspension system and no springs- the journey was excruciating, we had to spend most of the day hearing and feeling metal bits knocking against each other. For the short journeys it was tolerable, however on the way back the back passengers were suffering, one passenger hurt his knee, the other his head, the noise, vibration and bumps had not stopped! The bus was full so no ability to move to the front, this completely erased any good impression from the day.
We went to let the tour organisers know and their response was that yes sometimes you feel the corrugated road more so on the way back.... completely irrelevant to the issue, if you have 20+ passengers spending most of the tour time on your buses just ensure that buses are maintained to minimum standard of use.
Certainly not worth your money.

After staying overnight at the caravan park (I understand you didn't have to to do the tour but it was convenient), it was an early start for the tour. The driver & staff stressed that it would be a rough trip (road not smooth) and hot (take plenty of water & don't overdo it) & that they would refund any fees should people decide not to proceed.
The bus was a bumpy ride but possibly understandable as the road was rough in places although it had recently been graded by the National Parks. It wasn't too bad but apparently had been worse until recently.
The driver Bushy was very knowledgeable & passionate about the park & cattle property & a good driver/host. He also set up a light morning tea with tea & coffee, and the items to make a meat & salad wrap, along with a cold drink. He explained what we would see at each of our 3 stops in the park & what we could achieve within the time available.
Upon arriving back at the camp, attendees were encouraged to get together for a drink & then enjoy a bbq dinner with a desert under the tent. Possibly a bit overccooked for my liking but a typical bbq.
An expensive day, but a long day & from what I understand took in the main sites in the park. .

Stayed at the caravan park which was lovely considering it was in a remote area. We took the day tour to the Bungle Bungles which was fantastic. Our guide come driver was Olivia who was very knowledgable and her commentary through out the tour was very informative. The vehicle ride was very bumpy and rough but as the roads were so corrugated this was expected. Morning tea was basic but ok. Lunch was a salad wrap which was nice. The walks into the gorges we went to were sensational. This area is a must see when in the Kimberleys. Our trip home was sooooo quick. Not sure if Olivia was on a time trial but she seemed to race so fast and maybe was trying to set a record for getting home. But she was a lovely guide.Even dinner was included in price which was very nice.

Earlier this year i was fortunate enough to go camping in the Kimberley Region and walk all the trails at the Bungle Bungles .The heli flight was on my list of things to do .I had never been in one before but would highly recommend it . The pilot was a young Dutch female and was an asset to the flight operators .She took us {a total of 4 persons} across the open plains explaining areas as we passed over them ,we had headsets on with live mic to talk/ask the pilot questions ,which she answered in detail . A totally enjoyable thrilling experience and recommend it to all .Being 62 years old age is not a problem as your checked out before paying for the flight .

If is great to hear rhat you enjoyed your flight. The Bungle Bungle are amazing from the air and also amazing from the ground in a totally different way.

I am back from a marvellous experience travelling from Kununurra Western Australia to the Bungle Bungle. No matter where you fly or drive it is an unforgettable experience- flying you cross Lake Argyle and see the Bungle's from above. I will never forget it

Very overpriced at $310 per person with diabolical morning tea, lunch & the evening meal was worse
Not recommended. The tour bus was uncomfortable and seemed totally unsuited for its purpose. Our driver was knowledgeable.

Thank you for taking a day tour into the amazing Purnululu National Park with Bungle Bungle Expeditions. Of course I'm very disappointed to read your review, but also a little concerned as to what you may have expected.
Our tour buses are extremely suited to the road into the National Park and in fact are purpose build. Due to the condition of this road the buses need to be quite robust. These buses safely transfer guests into, and back out of the Bungles daily throughout the season.
As for your criticism of our morning tea and lunch, once again I am not sure what you were expecting. On arrival at Piccaninny Creek we serve biscuits and fruit cake along with a choice of juice , tea and coffee. At lunch you're able to create your own wraps from a selection of fresh salad vegetables and ham.
Of an evening we serve a drovers dinner around the camp fire. This is not a fancy meal, but a wholesome country meal based on the meals that drovers would have whilst working their cattle out on the station. As we are located on a working cattle station we feel, as do the majority of our guests that this is a delightful way to end the day.

Hello! I'm going to Australia in September and will be in Bungle bungles station stay for 3 nights. What is the best things to see apart from going on a helicopter tour over Bungle Bungles? I am sure I'm going to be needing a rest for a while anyway but if there is anything else to see I would love to know about it. I'm really looking forward to this trip!
