I organised a hen party here for 16 people in May and the owner was very helpful and accommodating in assisting me to co-ordinate a large group of females! We had a Thai cookery demo which was fantastic and the food was delicious. This was followed by a two course dinner and wine which was equally as delicious! We stayed at the Amara farmhouse which was perfect accommodation for a large group of girls and was really well equiped. One tip for anyone staying on a weekend, if you intend to go in to the city in the evening, book a taxi well in advance!
Would highly recommend this venue for any sort of party. The whole package was excellent value, the owners were fantastic, the food amazing and we were made feel very welcome. Thank you Nuala and Phil!

We spent a day here as part of a "girls" weekend, doing the French Bistro Classics course. The cookery school is easy to find although it is in a rural location. There were 8 on the course in all - 4 of us 40 somethings, a sister and 2 brothers (30s and 40s), and a gentlemen in his 60s, along with Phil the chef - a full kitchen, and a diverse bunch. Phil made us all welcome on arrival with tea/coffee and biscuits and there was no pressure or rush to get started. We were all quite serious and quiet for about the first half hour then the banter started to flow and it all became good craic. I certainly felt free to ask any question that popped into my head at any time, the atmosphere was very informal. Phil was very knowledgeable and an excellent teacher - I had no idea there were so many different types of salt! I also didn't know how much eating would go on. After each course that we prepared we retired to the dining room to sample the fruits of our labours. Well I say sample - everybody cleared their plates each time. I was amazed by the quality of food we all produced and with very little drama. The atmosphere was unhurried and in fact we didn't finish up until an hour after the scheduled end time - given that fact along with the quality and quantity of ingredients used I believe the experience was good value for money. I don't know if I will use many of the techniques we were taught on a regular basis but I thoroughly enjoyed the day as did my friends.

I've always wanted to feel comfortable in the kitchen and I did after my 'Come dine with me' exoerience here. There were great menu choices, easy to follow recipes, inviting, comforable atmosphere, lovely hosts. Everything was made to look so easy, with great instruction and tips. Spending a day cooking and eating gorgeous food in a beautiful setting, what more could I want.

This was my second visit to the cookery school. I thoroughly enjoyed both visits. A taste of Italy and Come Dine with Me (Dinner Parties With a Difference). Phil was so calm and encouraging. Everyone was made to feel so welcome. A lovely day out and a wonderful learning experience.

I went here as the result of a birthday gift, and was a bit apprehensive of what lay ahead, but I needn't have been because from the initial warm friendly greeting from Phil to the final departing smile and handshake I was made very welcome. Phil's approach was friendly, informative but most of all inspiring, it didn't matter if you had to ask a couple of times about a technique or at what point to add the next ingredient, he was polite, treated us repectfully and allowed for the slower members of the class. We all enjoyed making the 3 dishes, and chatting about the evening over our individually prepared suppers and a glass of wine.
When you took into account the cost of the raw ingredients and what you had to eat Phil's expertise was vertually free. Happily recommend this course to anyone.

The cookery school was a big success under Phil's expert tutelage. We learned to cook, and ate with great gusto, some delicious Italian food. The atmosphere was informal and relaxed, mistakes corrected with humour. We left smiling and with very full tums!

I attended the cupcake and cookies day and thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. Phil was excellent, thorough, well prepared, very patient and good fun. We packed in a considerable amount of cooking and I left with a boot full of delicious goodies. The other folks attending the course were lovely and we had a good days craic and fantastic cooking. I would recommend to all.

chose to go on the Italian themed night and like everyone else I talked to was apprehensive cooking with others. I arrived at 6.50 in the evening just as it was getting dark which was a pity because the views over Lough Foyle where stunning.
As soon as I entered the Kitchen I was met with Phil who is the chef and he introduced me to the rest of the members of that nights class, A mother and daughter from the Omagh area and two men from Limavady( Cheers guys I enjoyed the night).
Phil offered us coffee, water or a very tasty elderberry drink while he gives us a brief health and safety talk and a description of the night’s menu.
We then got gowned up and off to the kitchen. The first lesson we got was watching Phil put together a very tasty herb bread which was literally done with in 5 mins and left by to prove I could not be leave how simple it was.
From then on it was all hands on under the supervision of the chef. For the main we made an Sicilian dish called caponatta which consisted of Aubergines, roasted peppers, celery, onions and a few other vegetables in a tomato sauce this was accompanied with crispy skinned sea bass, First time I ever cooked sea bass and it won’t be the last, Phill showed us how to cook the most perfect fish skin side down.
Next we cooked pears filled with mascarpone, quite a few components to this dish but the end result was the tastiest pear I ever ate.
So then it was off to the dining room to taste the fruits of our labour, Not trying to blow my own trumpet but it was one of the nicest meals I have ate accompanied with a glass of white wine and water or the elderberry drink.Phill let us dine alone while he sorted the kitchen which was a good thing as we all could talk honestly of the night we had at My Little Kitchen, We all agreed it was a great night, we were in the kitchen for about two hours which seemed like 30 mins and we relaxed and dined for about 45 mins with I have to say with good company.

I visited this cookery school for the second time in September. Unlike my first experience, I was more than a little disappointed to find the instructor here to be a little abrupt, and critical during the class - something which certainly didn't engender learning.. I have been fortunate to attend cookery classes elsewhere in Ireland and Scotland and was therefore surprised when in 'my little kitchen' we weren't briefed fully on what the course would include and more crucially, not given even a mention on health and safety before we proceeded to work with knives and mandolins. When one of our party cut themselves, help was extremely slow in coming, and little concern was shown. My disappointment was further compounded by the fact that I had recommended this cookery school to a number of friends, three of whom came with me that night. I won't be returning and certainly won't be recommending my little kitchen anyone in the future.

I went here with my partner and friends for the italian class (£40 each including dinner). The evening was very relaxed and Phil was a great teacher. We cooked food I've never cooked before and learned about some new ingredients and methods of cooking. One thing I would say is that this is not a class for absolute beginners, though it's good fun for even those that haven't a clue. Phil's passion for food was inspiring - looking forward to the indian class.
