My wife and I both thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Richard was an excellent tour guide - so knowledgeable and engaging - and even though we have visited the Vatican Museum before, this was by far our best visit as Richard really brought the history to life. His stories and explanations were the perfect mix of informative and entertaining and I can imagine that he would be brilliant at engaging children - even teenagers! - too. He even recommended a great restaurant for lunch afterwards which was a lovely way to finish our tour. We would highly recommend this tour and Richard in particular. Thank you so much, Richard, for making this such a memorable and enjoyable experience.

Great private early tour of the Vatican with Richard. He was super funny, told great stories to keep our two teenagers engaged, while also imparting a lot of history. It was a bit of a wait to get into the Vatican even with the early tickets, so it’s not an instant access situation - but Richard told lots of great history and stories while we were in line. We appreciated the humor and the insights. Great tour!

We have used Context Travel in France in the past based on a friend’s recommendation and had a good experience, so when planning our Italian trip, we decided to use them again. They are more expensive than many other tour companies, but worth every penny. I cannot emphasize that enough. The customer service is wonderful. Very responsive and accommodating. The expert guides shine with their passion, enthusiasm and knowledge. We learn so much on these tours. In Italy, all our tours were private. This meant the guides took great care to cater to our personal interests- creating tours unique to us making for a fascinating day of high engagement.
Full-Day Pompeii Day Trip from Rome with Francesca: I can’t say enough about Francesca and our driver (I am so sorry I can’t recall his name!). Due to a series of unfortunate events entirely of our making, we arrived in Pompeii hours later than when we were supposed to arrive. We showed up very upset and frazzled. Francesca calmly took charge and somehow not only saved the day but did her magic and still gave us the tour we had hoped for! She was so flexible and immensely helpful with arrangements helping us change our train tickets back to Rome, etc. She and the driver went way beyond what was expected to ensure we still saw all we wanted to see and even took personal time to make sure we made it to the museum to finish our day. Francesca was incredibly expert in the subject matter and her love of the subject and her hometown of Napoli shone throughout the day.
The Complete Vatican Tour with St. Peter's Basilica, Sistine Chapel with Siriana: Look up passion and engaging and you will see a picture of Siriana. We had a fascinating tour that kept our interest from the moment we said hello outside the Vatican. Every moment was a moment of discovery and learning. We enjoyed it immensely.
Rome in a Day Tour with Colosseum with Liz: Liz is not only an incredibly expert guide, she is so warm and personable. She delivered so much information all day in such an easy and palatable way. Although it was a full day we felt energized and our interest was held every second. I had a wonderful time learning. It felt like she was an old friend showing us all she knows of her city.

We understood about half of the guide's presentation. A lot of the problem seemed to be that the guide used the low-end Vatican-issue sound system. It looked like lots of other guides were providing their own microphones and headsets with higher quality audio. We were surprised that Context Travel chose to save money at our expense, since we paid top dollar for the tour.

We used Context Travel for tours of the Colosseum and Forum with Guiseppe. He was great and limiting the tour to just the 6 of us was really great. We had Vatican tour with Basilica with Estela. In both cases tour was customized to what we needed. 6 older women. Guide was patient with our slow descent down some of the many staircases. These tours are so much better than the huge group tours you see passing by. Wonderful guides.

My travel group included my husband and our three adult children. Our son had selected this tour as he is a history buff and is also interested in the social structure of the Scandinavian countries. The tour was amazing! Bjorn showed us the beautiful City Hall as well as numerous other sites. His knowledge of Stockholm and Sweden's history is impressive. Most importantly, however, Bjorn had told us that we could ask any questions we had. Among the five of us, we peppered Bjorn with all types of questions about Sweden's history, political climate, social structure, and economics. This may have been the most fascinating tour I have ever done. But the highest recommendation would be my husband's response. He generally doesn't even like tours at all. However, he choose this tour with Bjorn as his favorite activity on our two-week trip. Thank you, Bjorn!

I have used Context travel many times over many years but I am prompted to write this review by the really terrible experience I had when using Context in Tokyo. The guide they provided was not Japanese, but that would be ok if they at least spoke Japanese and had some local knowledge which was not the case. Ins head the guide is a kid, a student, travelling around, trying to make a bit of money, which is all well and fine, but Context charges very high prices and what they promise to provide are highly qualified guides with specialised knowledge. This was not the case. The guide had no knowledge at all of Tokyo, apart from what anyone might have form a cursory glance at a guide book, and certainly the guide had not specialised knowledge of the topic the tour was supposed to be about. Consequently the tour was extremely boring and annoying. I couldn't wait to get away. Context charges very high prices which are outrageous in the circumstances. I do not mind the price if I am getting a specialised guide, but this was really ridiculous. I just want to say one more thing, which is wha is much worse than the experience of the guide, is the experience of dealing with Context customer services. They are haughty and unhelpful and absolutely do not care one bit if a customer is disappointed and complains, which must happen quite a lot given the situation. Do not use Context.

Not worth the expense. Find another tour company for Normandy D Day tours. The price that was 3 times other companies was not worth the extra cost. Additionally, our tour guide was the typical Pompous British a_ _.

We took "The Complete Vatican Tour with St. Peter's Basilica, Sistine Chapel and Skip-the-Line Tickets today" and were guided by the excellent and eminently knowledgeable Cecilia. She did a fantastic job. Nice to know Context Travel is a tour provider that can always be trusted to provide an excellent experience, from online support to fantastic guides.

Dimo was fantastic. To have a real archaeologist as a guide, takes the tour to a whole other level. If you want to learn how the Romans actually lived, this is the tour.

Absolutely, book Context tours early to get your choices and plan the rest of your stay around the tours. I find the city early in my trip planning and book the context tours, the rest falls into place. Sorry late answering. Just returned from Riobamba Ecuador.

I'm not Context Travel staff, but yes, the tours are all in English. I've always been pleasantly surprised at how much I learn and how easy the conversation flows. Their docents are great resources for other facets of your travel.
