Fabulous fabulous fabulous. Best guide I’ve had in years. Alessandra is an art historian with passionate love of her city and gave a deeply informative tour, supplemented by wonderful visual aids, she was lovely and personable and altogether gave a wonderful experience.

Context travel offer THE best tours and are worth every penny. We recently experienced the Colosseum & Roman Forum 4-hour tour in Rome: Our guide Dony was superb. Extremely knowledgeable & brought the history to life in a way that we hadn’t imagined possible. The forum can be overwhelming as the scale is immense, and Dony focused on the key events, places and timeline which helped us form an order of events and understand the context surrounding the Forum & Colosseum more clearly. These are expensive tours, but worth the investment as they help make historical art, architecture, culture and the political environment of the time, accessible and memorable.

BEWARE! Vatican tour for 6 was brutal. Easily over 30 degrees. Overcrowded. Could not leave. I found practically no benefit from having a guide. In my opinion Context misrepresents the nature of this tour.
In substance you are not in a small group. You are with more than 30,000 people being jammed into the Vatican. Which for 30,000 people is not a large space. Tour provided almost no advantage re combating overcrowding. In my case it made it harder to leave.
The audio system is poor. Gave up.

Learning about the history and visiting the historical sites with Dimo is absolutely the best experience we had in Rome. My family enjoyed every minute of this experience. Dimo is amazing and interesting expert in his field of archaeology and history.

The tour was exceptional as was our tour guide Dimosthenis. His knowledge of the subject matter and passion for archaeology brought the history to life. The 4 hour tour went by very quickly because he was so interesting.
I travelled with my wife and 17 year old daughter and we all had a spectacular time. I highly recommend this tour, tour company, and guide.

Our tour guide was amazing! She provided wonderful antidotes and insight into all of the history while being so patient answering all of our questions. The only downside was the heat & crowds. I wouldn’t recommend a full day tour during the summer months.

Like other reviews I saw...
I booked a tour months in advance.
They confirmed. They took my money.
The night before my tour, they changed everything (time, place, duration, etc.)
No apology or explanation. I guess they just decided to do what would be most convenient for them.
They added stress to my trip as I scrambled to find an alternative at which point I discovered that they were also ripping me off because I found an identical tour for a quarter of what they were charging me. Apparently, they resell other people's tours with a huge mark-up.
Stay away. Don't risk your vacation with Context Travel.

We loved our guide Pier. I decided to do a private tour with my daughter and it was well worth it He was personable and knowledgeable. It was very busy so he had both of us put in one earpiece so he didn’t have to shout over all of the noise. It was brilliant because we could hear about everything clearly. We were right next to each other like we were having a conversation so it was not a bother at all to wear the ear piece. I would highly recommend him!

Very informative private tour with Cristina who is an art historian and expert on the vatican. She was a pleasure to spend a few hours with and we learned so much.

Fabio was an expert guide - informative stories, fantastic balance between history and stories accessible to our 3-generation of family (9 people in total!). Kind, engaging, and wonderful company. Highly recommend!

Absolutely, book Context tours early to get your choices and plan the rest of your stay around the tours. I find the city early in my trip planning and book the context tours, the rest falls into place. Sorry late answering. Just returned from Riobamba Ecuador.

We can certainly accommodate you for a tour of the Forum and Palatine in the morning of the 7th. Considering your time restrains, you may want to opt for a private tour, as it gives you greater flexibility and the choice to customise the tour as you like.

I'm not Context Travel staff, but yes, the tours are all in English. I've always been pleasantly surprised at how much I learn and how easy the conversation flows. Their docents are great resources for other facets of your travel.
