I have more joy going to independent local museums like this one than the usual big tourists ones. Frenchay Village Museum is free admission but is only open on Wednesdays and Saturdays at certain times and its wealth of local history including what was Frenchay Hospital and the Fry's factory in Keynsham is fascinating.
Do not miss.

What a warm welcome! We were passing with my mother in law who is currently in a wheelchair and the guide welcomed us and invited us in, opening up the back doors which have a ramp to facilitate easier access.

Within this tiny cottage with its unassuming exterior is a wealth of interesting material, clearly telling the internationally significant stories of the incredibly influential and important folk who lived in this village on the fringe of the city. Well worthy of a visit - even if just to see the oldest bar of chocolate in the world! - the team are embarking on a project to extend the building to enable the whole collection to be displayed and interpreted as much is still in storage, sadly. I really hope their project gains the support and funding it needs and deserves. Well done to all concerned and thank you for your warm welcome!

There are not many villages that can boast such an array of famous people and businesses as the Frenchay Village Museum. From chocolate to racing cars and explorers to vacuum cleaners, it's amazing. And that's only the people the casual visitor will have heard of. It really does contain a mine of information about past inhabitants who were not quite so well-known outside the area.

Excellent museum situated at the entrance to Frenchay Hospital. Well worth a visit. You will not be disappointed. The staff who man it are as knowledgeable as the history contained within.
Not sure about the parking as the hospital which has now closed down has manned security barriers.

This tiny museum is located at the very entrance to the former Frenchay Hospital and it has its own parking place. It is lovely to see as it gives history of the local hospital, of four local families but also of the World Wars' times when the US troops were treated in local hospital. There are tons of photos in every room but also numerous letters and a stunning collection of sketches. The entrance is free, but donations are welcome and it is definitely worth a visit.

Visited this museum recently having seen leaflet at the hotel where we were staying.A small museum situated at the entrance to the former Frenchay Hospital. Crammed with exhibits about the village and the local families. If in the area and you have an hour or so to spare well worth the visit.

Now, I'm a bit bias as I live 100 yards from this museum but it's a lovely little visit- all run by volunteers and it's completely free to visit.

If you get the time then please stop by and I can guarantee you'll be made very welcome.

Hospital has no sadly closed but the museum is there with a wealth of information about the history of Frenchay, our residents and the hospital.

This tiny museum is crammed with interesting items of local interest. Situated just inside the grounds of Frenchay Hospital it is manned by volunteers who are friendly & very well informed. One room has temporary exhibitions & the rest is mainly given over to the history of local trades & industries, household names which many local residents will have worked for in the past. If you have an hour or two to spend you won't be disappointed.
