What an absolutely fascinating experience! We had the best time touring this gaucho each in San Antonio. Our wonderful tour guide, Alejandra, picked us up with her driver from our hotel in Buenos Aires at the exact time that she specified.
The drive to San Antonio de Areco was most pleasant, with Alejandra giving us a detailed history of the gauchos and showing us pictures and books on the relevant aspects of the subject and area. She was full of good information and answered all our questions about Argentina in general. I enjoy talking to local tour guides about the sociopolitical history of the countries we visit, and Alejandra did not disappoint.
She took us to the quaint downtown of Areco and showed us the city center and Museo Draghi, which was so fascinating. Meeting the actual artist was a bonus.
We drove on to the ranch where we were greeted with fresh empanadas and cold drinks. The empanadas were out of this world!
I opted for the horse back stroll around the ranch afterwards which was pretty rustic. No instructions were provided before the ride which were fine by me since I’m accustomed to riding, but I thought that a novice would find that daunting. Especially because one of the gauchos leading the group had a jumpy horse that kept veering off the trail and had to be controlled with expertise. Animals can be unpredictable! There’s an option to ride the wagon too which is more tame.
Alejandra was by our side after the ride was over. She showed us where the lunch was going to be served and took us for a quick peak in the foyer of the beautiful house at the center of the ranch. We also got to see the huge Pailla that was lit up and various meats were being grilled by this very nice man who showed us how it all worked. It smelled amazing!
Alejandra helped us find the best table at the veranda of the house. The set up was elegant and beautiful. We ordered a bottle of Malbec from Mendoza, which was amazing and went well with the grilled meats. The options are plentiful and there are several sides to choose from is well. Even vegetarians are accommodated nicely. There were several beautiful resident dogs that kept us company throughout the tour. After the meal, we gathered out in an opening in front of the beautiful house to enjoy a traditional dance/singing show by the gaucho performers. It was beautifully done and somewhat interactive when they invited us to join in in learning the steps and dancing along in the group. Everyone enjoyed it!
Alejandra found us the perfect cup of Matè (popular tea made w Yerba leaves) to experience in the traditional cup and straw. Such a cool treat!
Soon after a horse whisperer presented a most memorable show with a beautiful horse that followed instructions of his master and was basically like putty in his master’s hands. The audience were mesmerized. I loved the fact that we were allowed to approach/pet the horse afterwards and take photos as well. What a treat!
I also got the chance to ride a bike around the premises. The Nikes are well maintained and look cute with their bright colors. Although, the grounds are not very conducive for biking, but you can get a good workout pedaling around if you like it.
Our ride back was equally pleasant. Our driver (sorry, I forgot his name) drove carefully and safely even though it started raining along the way.
Alejandra helped us stop along the way and find a nice riding hat that I wanted to buy before leaving and some cool souvenirs that I had my eyes on. They safely dropped us off at the front of our hotel and said good byes. I want to take this opportunity to thank Alejandra again for a most enjoyable tour/day spent at Estancia. What a memorable experience! Highly recommend!

We had an amazing Gaucho Tour experience! The horseback riding was so much fun, the asado was delicious, and the live music and show made it even more special. Our guide Pablo was fantastic—super friendly, knowledgeable very well-organized, and made sure everything ran smoothly. He even took great pictures of us throughout the day! Highly recommend this tour for an authentic and unforgettable day

We were picked up at the hotel in a very nice car with a lovely guide, Marcelo.
The drive to the Estancia was well described by Marcelo who was very informative, funny and cheerful. We cannot commend him highly enough.
The silver museum was beautiful
When we arrived at the Estancia it was a delight. The welcome drinks and empanadas, taken in the shade, were delicious and most welcome.
Horseback riding for my son, carriage ride for me then a wonderful lunch. It was so flavourful.
To finish we had some music and dancing and then an amazing display by a young gaucho and his horse. The love between them was powerful.
All round I cannot recommend this highly enough and you may be lucky and get Marcelo as your guide.

I find it totally and absolutely ridiculous that they charge almost $150 a day per person to visit a primitive place and very few attractions like this

We spent a total of five days in Buenos Aires and had tour guides hosting us seven times. This experience was by far the best, and we believe most of that was due to the extraordinary job done by our tour guide, Pablo. He had an excellent English vocabulary, his accent was not too strong on his English, he was a wealth of knowledge, and, frankly, he was just a genuine, nice person with whom we spent one full day, and if given the opportunity in the future, would only want him to lead other tours for us.
For those reluctant to ride horses, this horseback ride is about as tame as you can get. For lunch you get to try more kinds of meat than I even realized were available on a ranch! We would recommend just tasting one of each, because even with doing that, we were very full after lunch.
The horse whisperer demonstration was very interesting to watch, and we enjoyed the music and dancing entertainment.
This is a real ranch away from the city. Other gaucho tours offered in Buenos Aires are not real ranches, but sets arranged to see demonstrations. Do the real thing, and go here. Here the original home was built in the 1880's. They have more than 350 heads of Aberdeen Angus cattle and 70 horses. They also have fields planted with soybeans, corn, wheat, oats or pastures, depending on the time of year.

Lovely location, fun carriage ride. We had to wait quite a while for lunch to be served. It would have been better if the folkloric music was played while we were waiting for lunch/and or during. There was a short demonstration of tango by a couple of the guides, it wouldve been better if they had dancers in costume. I was expecting to see the Gaucho's do a riding show, instead we saw a Horse whisperer which was excellent but it was shown right at the end. The entertainment should be before or during lunch so then people can leave when ready. It was challenging sitting down waiting for such a long time. The whole tour was too long.

We were picked up bright and early one morning at our hotel by our guide in a small, comfortable van that was our transport for the day. It's a long ride from downtown BA to the El Ombu ranch near Areco. This journey gave us a view of parts of the city we hadn't seen before, as well as the flat landscape that charachterises the Pampas. Shortly before El Ombu we stopped at the small town of Areco where our guide took us to a gaucho and silversmith museum that offered a fascinating range of gaucho clothes, equipment and silverware that is used to adorn their saddles, belts etc. (Many items for sale in the museum shop).
Once at the ranch we were offered a horse ride around part of the ranch, or alternatively a bumpy ride in a horse-drawn wagon. That was followed by refreshments and the gaucho lunch that consisted of a large number of meat selections, different cuts of steak as well as some pork and chicken, all cooked in the traditional gaucho way over the grill. Washed down by local wine. A substantial meal that guaranteed we'd all be asleep on the ride back to BA (which we were).
An excellent day out, in no small way thanks to our outstanding guide who shared so much information on the history of this part of Argentina, the history of the gaucho and their lifestyle. As well as the region as a whole; and he always answered our vast range of random questions! A big thank you to him!

The tour was excellent. The guide was the best and westarted enjoying and learning about Buenos Aires the minute me took a seat in the mini-bus. It is not just transportation to the ranch, it's a city tour.
The staff at the ranch, Estancia El Ombu, welcomed us as family.
Horseriding, music, and dance included. They had vegetarian options too.
The food was great, the entertainment was fun, and the people were joyful.
This is a must!

I had both a guide and a driver as one and his personal auto and he was very cooperative very pleasant conversationalist and made sure I got home safe safely back to the hotel. I had a little bit too much to drink at the gaucho experience so I slept in the backseat of the car all the way back and arrived safely and was very grateful for his conversation

We are staying at the Buenos Aires Hilton. We are scheduled to go to a Tango dinner/dance at 7:15 on January 6th, 2023. If we take the Gaucho Day Tour Ranch in San Antonio de Areco on the same day will we get back to the hotel in time to go to the Tango dinner/dance?

Hello,
I have lost my passport during my stay in Buenos Aires.
I have an emergency travel document to travel back home and a valid UK driving license.
Will I be able to go on the tour with these? Will you accept them?
Thanks,
Kieran
