One of the best views you will get anywhere. As the River Clyde becomes the Firth of Clyde, you can see (on a good day) all the way to Ben Lomond and the Argyll hills. Parking available at the top.

If the Lion Of Judah were to unleash the four horsemen of the apocalypse this would be the ideal place to set them on off their catastrophic patrol ... unleashing sword, famine and plague ... the fourth and final horse is pale, and upon it would ride Death, accompanied by Hades ... All four horsemen would enjoy the spectacular views of the Firth Of Clyde and the hills of Argyll. There is also a handy hill and mountain identifier and of course the Free French Memorial to enjoy.

The views from Lyle hill are the best especially on a sunny day when you can take pleasure in just sitting taking in the beautiful scenery across the Clyde.

Absolutely stunning view! It's a high effort walk to the top but sooo worth it! There's a bus you can get which takes you almost to the top so if you can't walk it up there's still an option for you!

Took the opportunity on a sunny day to walk up to it from Gourock. It's a steep walk past some fabulous properties which took about 20 minutes. You can get up it by car from Greenock or Gourock. It's worth it for the view. Large anchor monument in memory of the French navy at the top. Not the most impressive viewing platform at the top but the views are amazing.

All the places I've seen in the word and this is still one of my absolute favourites, beautiful. Often stop the car here for five just admiring the view.

How do I get from the cruise ship to Lyle Hill (starting point)?

It’s a nice walk from the cruise terminal if you are fit enough ; head up Patrick Street ( right turn as come out cruise terminal) and head straight up until Finnart street , turn right And west along Finnart street for a couple of blocks then left and right turn takes you into Newton street and again right and west as the street heads up the Lyle Hill ; you can do a loop by walking down the other side and head back along via the Esplanade ; use google maps to show you the route ; would take 90 plus minutes but it’s s nice walk through the west end with lovely views ; pick up one of the local info leaflets about the houses on the Esplanade which will make the walk back more interesting

Is it a difficult walk. Wel will be arriving on a cruise ship

Hi, it's not difficult, pavements all the way, depending on your ability 30 - 60 minutes from the dock. A good alternative is the volunteer guides who run trips from the boat round local attractions or us a taxi, but perhaps walk into town rather than use one from the boat as they will be looking for the "bigger" trips going further afield, also there is an open top tour bus usually meeting the cruise ships when they dock. you should get info on the boat about these i think.

Are there any picturesque small towns near Greenock where one could spend a couple of hours walking and shopping for small souvenirs?

Yes, Gourock is the nearest and good for shopping in original shops in town centre and Cardwell Bay. Bracing walk along the prom.

Is it possible to get to Clyde Muirshiel Park from the cruise port in Greenock on a Sunday via public transportation, or a taxi?

Sorry it has taken so long to answer. There is a local train station Greenock West where you can take a train one stop down the line to Fort Maltida. But the hike up the hill is exhusting. I would take a taxi there and walk back through the west end of Greenock.

Nous voyagerons en train à partir du port de Greenock. Est-il facile et rapide de se rendre à Lyle Hill à pied, à partir de la station Fort Matilda? Ou y a-t-il un autre transport public nous menant plus directement?

Yes it is a quick walk from Fort Matilda station, but it is quite difficult as it's a steep incline and can only be achieved by foot (or car)! It is, however worth the effort as it it an excellent vantage point for viewing the picturesque view of the river Clyde and it is the site of the Free French Memorial, which dominates it! Sorry to be so long before answering your question!
